Hotel: Capo la Gala

by Carrinicole

AMALFI BEACH HIDEAWAY

I really wanted to spend time at the beach while we ventured around Naples. Not the beach, like where we have to travel to it, but more like wake up and lazily walk out your door to a beach chair. It was a challenge to find a hotel that accomplished this, since most hotels and resorts in the Amalfi Coast have pools but no ocean access, and if they do, getting in and out of the hotel/location is a transportation challenge.

Capo la Gala accomplished exactly what I wanted — a beach, and easy access to a main road for our day trips to Naples, Pompeii, Heraculaneum, and Sorrento. Well, not exactly a beach, but private water access via a swimming platform and stairs.

There were a couple drawbacks to the hotel — the first was we were noticeably (by treatment of staff) the youngest couple staying here solo (without parents/grandparents). Socially this didn’t bother us. Pizza also wasn’t on their room service / beach bar menu which was a bummer to me as well.

Full bar with specialty cocktails. We spent many evenings at the bar playing chess.

There are three menus here — the beach bar lunch menu, the bar dinner menu, room service, and the restaurant.

AMENITIES

Pool

There is both a pool and a jacuzzi, if you need to cool off but don’t want to jump into the ocean. I took advantage of both!

Spa

The base floor has a full spa — where you can either get treatments, or spend time in the different jacuzzis, steam rooms, and saunas.

Gym

One of my favorite amenities was the beautiful open air gym. No better place to workout than here!

Shuttle

We used the shuttle service every evening to Vico Equense, where we walked around, enjoyed the view, and ate dinner.
